R40 high performance trimaran

This design is somewhere between a stretched Raw30 and a seriously whittled down version of the TR42. The concept is inspired as a potential contender for the 2018 Round Britain and Ireland Race.

Not quite a full tilt racer, the design makes some concessions for cruising with two generous berths in two cabins, the aft cabin and the forward cabin, and occasional accommodation available in the saloon.

The R40 is designed to be built from a kit that includes the main hull and decks, the beams, the interior of the main hull and all of the temporary formers and cradles.

The bottom of the main hull and the float are built from DuFlex foam/timber  strips or other conventional method for creating moulded surfaces.

R40 has been designed to fit inside 2 standard 40’ containers before the beams are attached to the floats, so the boat can be built pretty much anywhere in the world and shipped at modest cost for final assembly at the owner’s home port.
